sensingsite is a series of research events organised by Central Saint Martins, which explores the materialities of the sensory nature of landscape and place, through the transformative potential of raw materials, multi-media performance, and interactive technologies. Its emphasis is upon research methodologies embedded in interdisciplinary art practice.

In 2014 sensingsite will be presented at three sites each focusing upon a different exploratory process:

Performing Site, Falmouth University, 9 April 2014

Materialising Site, Lethaby Gallery, Central Saint Martins, 23 April 2014

Transcribing Site, Parasol unit, 19 May 2014

Transcribing Site will include performances, presentations and demonstrations of practice and research engaged in various ways with the notation, copying, rescoring, and translation of site, for and across new contexts.

Presenters: Kevin Logan (London College of Communication), Sharon Phelps (CCW), Maria Papadomanolaki (London College of Communication), Sophie Read (University College London), Trish Scott (Chelsea College of Art and Design), and John Wild (Queen Mary University).

sensingsite is initiated and run by Steven Ball, Susan Trangmar and Dr. Duncan White in collaboration with Falmouth University and Parasol unit, supported by University of the Arts London Communities of Practice.
