The personal information we collect about you may include your name, postal address, telephone number, mobile number, e-mail address and your preferences. We do not store customer’s financial details.

What do we do with your personal information?

We may use your personal information to update you about forthcoming exhibitions, workshops, events, news and shop offers which may be of interest to you, in accordance with data protection legislation. You will receive information in the format(s) that you have requested, for example, by email, post or telephone.

We may also use your personal information to contact you for record keeping requirements, and for market research (anonymous), to track activity on our website and to improve the effectiveness of our content.

If you use your credit card or debit card to purchase an item online or in our gallery shop or to pay to attend an event, we will ensure that this process is carried out securely. We do not store customers’ credit or debit card details.

Who we may share your information with?

We will not share your personal information with any third parties or external organisations other than data processors carrying out work on our behalf. For example, we use Mailchimp as our bulk email distributor and Eventbrite for event ticket sales and event registration.

We will not sell, share or disclose your personal information to any other third parties.

Security

We ensure to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and from unauthorised access, alternation or publication. This protection applies to information stored in both digital and hardcopy form. You accept the security risks of providing personal information online.

How long will we keep your information?

We will only keep the personal information we gather about you for as long as is required and for the purposes in which you can given consent. We will review our files at various times throughout the year to ensure the information we hold about you is correct, up-to-date and still necessary. We will keep contract and financial information of our current employees, and our patrons for two years after their renewal period ends.

Where you have consented to receive direct marketing communications from us we will retain your contact information for this purpose and for as long as you do not unsubscribe. If you decide to opt-out from our marketing communications we will delete your personal data from our records.

Marketing

Where you have purchased either event tickets, limited editions or items from our gallery shop or have otherwise agreed to be contacted for marketing purposes, we may use your personal information to send you information by email about Parasol unit’s exhibitions, news, events and shop items. You can unsubscribe from receiving these emails at any time and details of how to unsubscribe will be included on each digital mailing we send you.

You have the option of “unsubscribing” from our mailing list at any time thereby disabling any further such e-mail or other communication from being sent to you by emailing info@parasol-unit.org. We will action any opt out request from you without delay.

Press

We will contact members of the press, who we have been in touch with previously, about Parasol unit’s exhibitions, previews and events via the Head of Press, Marketing + Events. You can request not to be contacted by emailing us directly at info@parasol-unit.org. You can also ask to receive our monthly exhibitions + news mail outs by subscribing to our newsletter and updating your preferences.

Surveys

We may occasionally ask visitors to the gallery or online to complete a survey. These surveys are carried out as part of funding applications or to help us understand our visitors needs. The personal data we collect is limited to the basic information we require and will remain anonymous.

Children

We are committed to protecting the privacy of the children and young people who engage with us through our programmes, events and our website. When we collect information about someone under the age of 18, we will make it clear why we are collecting this data and how it will be used. Where possible and appropriate we will seek consent from a parent or guardian before collecting information about children. We ensure to gain permission from the parent or guardian of a child or young person under 18 before posting event images on our website or social media.
