the space of the republic
Thursday 13 December, 7pm
Taking its lead from the exhibition of work by Jannis Kounellis, the evening will combine a critical talk with a conceptual textual performance, addressing questions of material, collectivity and public space – the space of the republic. Philosopher and political journalist Nina Power will lead with a critical talk on protest, poverty and the philosophy of control. Conceptual poet and academic Redell Olsen will then perform recent multi-media texts in dialogue with Jannis Kounellis’s work.
Nina Power is a senior lecturer in philosophy at Roehampton University and the author of ‘One-Dimensional Woman’ (Zer0 Books).
Redell Olsen is currently reader in poetic practise at Royal Holloway. Her recent projects include ‘Newe Booke of Copies’ (2009) and ‘Bucolic Picnic (or Toile de Jouy Camouflage)’ (2009).
