Yinka Shonibare, MBE

Exhibiting artist Yinka Shonibare, MBE will offer a unique insight into his practice as he discuss his work in the current exhibition with Director/Curator of Parasol unit, Ziba Ardalan. Shonibare’s ‘Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle’ is currently on view at Trafalgar Square’s Fourth Plinth. Over the past decade, Shonibare has become well known for his exploration of colonialism and post-colonialism within the contemporary context of globalisation. He has exhibited worldwide, in 2008/09 his major mid-career survey commenced at the MCA Sydney and toured to the Brooklyn Museum, New York and the Museum of African Art at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC.
