The Watchmacallit (an unknown object)

Taking the work of Charles Avery as a starting point, drawing will be used as a way to record a short lived fantastical specimen. We will discuss what happens to an object when it is recorded and how drawing is still an important way of recording what we find in the world. In this workshop, participants will be invited to document an object in the gallery. Participants will draw, annotate, write descriptions and take samples to document what is seen. No phones/cameras or recording devises will be allowed into the workshop. The resulting drawings, descriptions and samples will be photographed and published online (as a micro site/artwork) with each participant listed a contributing artist.
