David Adjaye

Tuesday 18 March, 7pm
£5/3 conc.

Parasol unit is pleased to present a discussion with one of the UK’s leading architects, David Adjaye. This event will be the first in a new series of events at Parasol unit entitled Creative East: Celebrating East London’s Creativity, which aims to celebrate the unique creative culture of London’s East End.

David Adjaye will discuss his most recent project, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver. This building, which according to Adjaye “is about atmosphere and emotion”, is the first public US commission for the architect, who has come to prominence through his innovative collaborations with well-known contemporary artists such as Chris Ofili and Olafur Elliasson. This talk will look at the way in which architecture influences our experience of the artwork. It will explore the relationship between art and architecture, which has taken a dramatic turn in recent years, not only thanks to the increasing demand for art museums, but also due to new software programmes, which enable the realisation of increasingly complex forms.
