In 2014 Parasol unit launched a Youth Programme for young people aged 8 – 13 yr. olds and 14 - 19 yr. olds. This new education strand started during the October half-term with a free 5-day Sketchbook Project: Handmade Journeys for 8 – 13 yr. olds. The project was funded by, and in partnership with, Rose Bowl, a Youth Centre in Islington.
In February 2015 we received a successful funding bid from Hackney Council to programme a youth project during Katy Moran’s exhibition, as part of Discover Young Hackney. This project involved 32 young people aged 14 – 19 yrs. old working in creative media over 10 workshops, as well as curated and installed a 2-day public exhibition in the Education & Events Room.
In Feb 2016 as part of the Julian Charriere exhibition with a series of events and workshops including a special holiday programme for young people from both Hackney and Islington. Our Youth programme across the year also includes Free Workshops to local Secondary schools and F.E colleges, extending experience and learning of contemporary art beyond the classroom.
