A unique opportunity to hear current exhibiting artist Carlos Garaicoa in conversation with artist Robert Montgomery and curator Dr. Ziba Ardalan.

This discussion will focus on the language of architecture and aspects of words and text within the urban environment. Both Garaicoa and Montgomery have varied approaches to reading the city which they apply to their works responding to social and political issues.

Carlos Garaicoa lives and works in both Madrid and Havana. Often taking as his starting point the urban environment and therefore architecture of these cities, Garaicoa creates works steeped in provocative commentary which reflect a frustration with social, economic and political issues.

Robert Montgomery lives and works in London. Known for his rhythmic texts pasted across posters on billboards and hoardings around East London, and for his dramatic light pieces and fire poems displayed throughout the world, he brings a poetic voice and public-interventionist strategies to contemporary Text Art.

Dr. Ziba Ardalan is the Founder, Director and Curator of Parasol unit foundation for contemporary art. Since 2004, Parasol unit has presented over fifty exhibitions as well as over a dozen other artistic projects. In addition the foundation has published over forty publications and  runs an active programme of education for adults, families and children.
