Suitable for ages 5 – 15 yrs
A collaborative family workshop creating a colourful wall hanging in response to Shezad Dawood’s paintings on vintage textiles. Families will work with artist Nicola Pomery, using recycled textiles, wool, and clothes, to combine processes of knitting, sewing, tying and knotting. Everyone is encouraged to bring interesting and unusual materials from home to incorporate into the artwork! Nicola will also be joined by educator and stylist Charlene Sandy.
Artist's Biog & link:
Nicola Pomery is a London-based artist working mainly in drawing, video and site-specific installations. She graduated in 2008 with an MA (Distinction) in Fine Art from Byam Shaw School of Art, for which she was awarded the South Square Trust Scholarship. Nicola currently works at Parasol unit for contemporary art as the Education Coordinator and Camden Arts Centre running a project for young people with severe and profound learning difficulties. She is also a Visiting Lecturer at the University for the Creative Arts.
Charlene Sandy has been working in fashion as a stylist and assistant since graduating from her Textile Design degree. She has recently returned to her textile roots through facilitating arts and craft workshops for adults and children.
