Antwerp-based duo Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen's latest edition, Untitled Leather (Chris), 2006-15, was inspired by the forensic scene of the comedian Chris Farley's death. The Saturday Night Live star was found dead in his apartment on the 60th floor of the John Hancock Center in Chicago in 1997. He was found shirtless, arms outstretched, holding rosary beads in one hand and money in the other. The cause of death was an accidental opiate/cocaine intoxication and coronary atherosclerosis. The digital print on leather is generated using mathematical chaos pattern, rendering each multiple different from each other. The colors refer to postmortem body fluids symptomatic of a drug overdose as seen on the forensic image.
This edition is available now from the Parasol unit shop and each example is signed and numbered by the artists.
